1982: Queensland 10 NSW 5
Remembered for the famous mix-up between Phil Sigsworth and Phil Duke. Under pressure, Sigsworth passed to Duke in the in-goal and the winger fumbled the ball, allowing Wally Lewis to score and seal victory.
1983: Queensland 43 NSW 22
Lewis inspired the Maroons to a 21-point thumping. Queensland surged to a 21-0 half-time lead and never looked back.
1987: Queensland 10 NSW 8
Queensland's Dale Shearer kicked a penalty goal after referee Barry Gomersall ruled Michael O'Connor offside, handing the Maroons a two-point win.
1991: Queensland 14 NSW 12
Mal Meninga landed a sideline conversion to seal victory after a Shearer try. It was Lewis's last match and he was sent out a winner in his last Origin game.
1992: NSW 16 Queensland 4
At the age of 21, Balmain's Tim Brasher starred on debut after coming on to replace injured Blues winger Rod Wishart. Brasher made a couple of heroic cover tackles as the Maroons pressed late in the match.
1994: NSW 27 Queensland 12
Mark Coyne scored Queensland's miracle long-range try to win game one, but they were no match for a rampant Blues in the decider. The Blues kicked three field goals to seal victory and ruin Meninga's Origin farewell.
1998: Queensland 19 NSW 4
Queensland marched to victory against a depleted Blues team without Paul Harragon, Rodney Howe and Geoff Toovey. Queenslander Shane Webcke took advantage of the missing muscle, winning man of the match.
1999: Queensland 10 NSW 10
Queensland retained the trophy in the closest series in history. The Maroons won game one 9-8, before NSW levelled the series with a 12-8 win. Matt Geyer scored to square the game.
2001: Queensland 40 NSW 14
Wayne Bennett enlisted Allan Langer to return from England to play in the decider, combining with captain, then at fullback, Darren Lockyer to inspire the Maroons to a thumping win.
2002: Queensland 18 NSW 18
Again Queensland held on to the trophy after a drawn decider, in the clash made famous for Gorden Tallis's tackle on Brett Hodgson when he dragged him over the sideline by the collar.
2004: NSW 36 Queensland 14
Brad Fittler, who had bowed out of Origin in 2001, was asked by coach Phil Gould to make a comeback, and fittingly scored the last try in the victory.
2005: NSW 32 Queensland 10
Current NSW fullback Anthony Minichiello was man of the match in the Blues' crushing triumph in Brisbane. Halfback Andrew Johns overcame injury to play in game two, helping NSW to come back from one-nil down.
2006: Queensland 16 NSW 14
Queensland stormed back from 14-4 down to win in Melbourne, in the only decider played at a neutral venue.
2008: Queensland 16 NSW 10
Israel Folau scored two tries, with Johnathan Thurston setting up Billy Slater to cross for the match-winner.
