Welcome to the Carr Lane Principal's Corner
Darwin Young is the school leader here at Carr Lane
A message from Principal Young:
Dear Carr Lane VPA Families:
Dear Carr Lane VPA Families:
I am pleased to welcome you back for another school year. I would like to extend a special welcome to all of the new families joining Carr Lane this year and welcome back all of our returning families as well!
I am honored to be your principal. Our goal at Carr Lane is to work together to provide our students with a rich learning environment. My vision as the principal is to ALWAYS put kids first. My belief is that all students can learn. As educators we need to discover how each child learns in order to differentiate our instruction to support diverse learning styles.
In a collaborative effort, we want children to thrive in all ways possible. My hope is that all children will LOVE school. My staff and faculty strive to create a nurturing learning environment that is positive, safe, warm, and caring, as well as a fun place to learn and grow. We are dedicated to providing your child (or children) with a memorable, interactive and engaging learning experience.
STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY!
Sincerely:
Mr. Darwin Young, Principal

Our Mission: Carr Lane Visual and Performing Arts Middle School strives to provide a quality learning environment that ensures student success through the integration of the Arts and Academics.
Our Vision: Carr Lane Visual and Performing Arts Middle School will be a high quality educational program for students in grades 6-8 that develops the whole person through a curriculum that integrates the visual and performing arts and rigorous academics. We aim to develop the students academically, artistically and socially to become independent, cooperative, responsible and creative learners with a lifelong appreciation for the arts. We believe that these skills and qualities will prepare our students to pursue further educational goals.
Our vision is based on the following beliefs:
- A strong academic program supports the artistic potential of our students.
- The best discipline comes from a commitment to shared goals.
- The visual and performing arts encourage working in a creative, cooperative and collaborative manner while promoting independent thinking.
- Students learn best in a participative and creative environment within a framework of high standards in teaching and learning.
- Students need an understanding of, and access to, developing technologies in order to encourage participation and leadership in a technologically developing society.
