(? - ) UK author who began publishing work of genre interest with "Kerrol Ki" for The Scanner #8 in 1990; he has also published many reviews in the UK from about 1988. The loose Apollo Quartet sequence – comprising Adrift on the Sea of Rains (2012); The Eye with Which the Universe Beholds Itself (2013); Then Will the Great Ocean Wash Deep Above (2013) and All That Outer Space Allows (2013) – presents separate tales thematically linked. The first describes the dilemmas facing its astronaut protagonists in Hard SF terms: they are trapped on the Moon and forced to watch World War Three destroy all life on Earth (see Holocaust). An ancient Nazi Invention allows them, however, to explore Parallel Worlds, where they find a livable solution. This tale won a BSFA Award. The second volume is set in an Alternate World where Faster Than Light travel has been successful due to the Discovery in 1979 of an Alien space drive, and traces over decades the career of an astronaut assigned to investigate a mystery concerning Earth Two, which is located in a nearby star system. The use of two (and potentially four) alternate futures creates an interesting Thought Experiment jostling of realities. [JC]
