Biography

Easts' junior signed with Newtown in 1961. Keyes started his career on the wing but formed a fine centre partnership with Brian Moore during the 1960s. He played in the centres for NSW in 1964 and was a reserve in the 1966 interstate series. Later captaining the Bluebags, Keys took the club to a win in the reserve grade premiership in 1970 before playing the final years of his career as captain-coach of Ryde-Eastwood.

Your Say

  • E Curb Nottus

An underrated player in his time, continually overlooked for higher honours. But he produced consistent, effective performances in the centre for Newtown right through the 1960s.
