Thanks to the support of the Red Clay community in the February 2015 operating referendum, the district is set to begin its One-to-One technology initiative, where every student in grades 2 through 12 will have access to their own computer device. Students in grades 2-12 will be provided a Chromebook, a small laptop specifically designed to access the Internet. Chromebooks represent 60 percent of the devices that are deployed in classrooms across the U.S.
The district is partnering with Google Apps for Education, which is used by thousands of schools worldwide to help students and staff collaborate. Chromebooks utilize Google Apps, Schoology, and other specialized websites to create and share digital documents and presentations. The Chromebooks allow students to quickly create and publish work, practice skills and research curriculum topics.
