Tribune Tower (1925 by Howells & Hood) — The headquarters of the Chicago Tribune newspaper is the result of the most famous architectural competition of the 20th century. Howells and Hood’s winning design contained a modern steel frame but drew inspiration from France’s great historic Gothic cathedrals. Attached at eye-level on the base of the building are historic stones from famous structures and sites the world over, including the Great Wall of China and the Berlin Wall.
