MEOW MIX The doe-eyed pop singer Katy Perry introduced her first fragrance, Purr, this week. The eau de parfum features top notes of citrus, blended with peach nectar, apple and green bamboo, and supporting notes of jasmine blossom, pink freesia, Bulgarian rose, vanilla orchid, white amber, sandalwood and musk. “I’m absolutely thrilled to finally introduce me in a bottle,” said Ms. Perry in a recent press statement. It’s available exclusively at Nordstrom ($45 to $65).
REFLECTING ON SPECS Had enough of oversize, chunky-framed glasses? Silhouette, an Austrian rimless-eyeglass company that collaborated with the designer Binetti during New York Fashion Week, certainly hopes so. Silhouette’s philosophy is to showcase as much of the face as possible, with frames that enhance the orbital area rather than hiding it. They have put up a “virtual mirror” on their Web site and as an iPhone app, inviting users to submit a photo so they can “try on” different looks to show friends via Facebook or Twitter. The company also employs a quartet of stylists to travel the country training Silhouette providers in a three-part analysis (lifestyle, color and eyebrow and face shape) to help customers select the ideal frames (starting at $300, silhouette.com).
EYE BALL It’s that time of the year when ancient, dormant furnaces come back to life — delivering dry, dry heat. If you’re waking up dehydrated and puffy-eyed, try Vichy’s new Aqualia Eye Roll-On. It is made with escin (an extract from horse chestnut) and dextran sulphate — both of which are touted as having anti-inflammatory properties — plus hyaluronic acid and the brand’s signature thermal spa water. The product promises to minimize dark circles and dehydration lines. With a cool metal ball to apply the soothing ingredients, it also just feels really, really good ($26.50 a tube, vichyusa.com).
