Your Next Steps
While Montana State doesn't have a commitment deadline, we do recommend taking the following steps to confirm your attendance before school starts!
1. Apply for Financial Aid & Scholarships
We encourage incoming students to apply for scholarships and financial aid as soon as possible. Montana State University offers millions of dollars to incoming students every year; these awards are both merit-based and need-based. Many of these programs require separate applications, which include priority submission dates. Visit our financial info pages for more information.
2. Apply for Housing
At Montana State, we require all freshmen to live on-campus in our residence halls to get the most out of their first-year experience. MSU currently offers over 12 different living options to freshmen students. You can learn more about the different living options at the University Student Housing website.
3. Visit Campus
One of the most important parts of the college decision process is the campus visit. You have the opportunity to tour campus, meet current students, take a sample class, explore the Bozeman area and more! Campus visit opportunities are available year-round.
4. Send Your Paperwork
We'll need a few final details squared away before you start with us. Make sure that you send all pertinent documents, including final high school and college transcripts, AP and/or IB scores and health records. Learn how to explore your own personalized checklist at the button below!
5. Orientation/Class Registration Information
We require all incoming students to attend an Orientation/Class Registration session. Sessions are offered before the start of your intended entry term, and provide you with the opportunity to meet an academic advisor, select your courses and register for the semester. You'll also get to meet future classmates and officially join the Bobcat family.
