Even with the low expectations any reasonable viewer brings to a Shore flick, this rates only stupid-plus. The bongs-and-pajamas set, though, should be riveted.
The sheer ineptitude of the movie is supposed to be funny, but there's no lunacy behind it: Shore and his writers are like comedians on Prozac, smiling through the fart jokes without a hint of desperation.
This movie is awesome, for the critics that don't like **** wasn't for you moron! I actually think some are comparing it to Gone with the wind or Ben-Hur! You think I'm stupid for loving this move? I think you're stupid because you're not intelligent enough to understand what this movie was for!
This is one of the best stoner comedies I have ever seen, I wish I watched this masterpiece when I was 10/11 y/o. (Also This is my own personal opinion).
[Shore] seems convinced that the antics of his retarded persona amount to some manner of postmodernist anti-comedy and this makes the resultant boredom seem all the more pathetic.
A nonstop moronathon... Bio-Dome offers a pants-load of poop and masturbation jokes, deviant innuendo and simian sight gags destined to gross out and offend just about everyone.
Shore possesses only two talents -- his ability to assume yoga-like positions and fondle his own behind, and his mystifying knack for getting starring roles in bad movies.
Not sure why this movie garners so much outright hate. Sure it's not ground breaking and the humor is fairly routine, but there's nothing outright terrible about it. It's just an average stupid comedy.
Anyone giving this a 0 rating is either just jumping on the bandwagon to look popular or honestly has never seen a truly bad movie to compare this with.
Considering the very concept of bio-domes has since been mostly abandoned I still rewatch this movie every few years just for its nostalgia component.
Yes, it's dumb. It's not a great movie. But it's not absolutely terrible either, at least not terrible enough to deserve a 1. It still is good for a stupid laugh.
What a decerebrated movie. Witnessing such a high user-score is a total curse on humanity. Fortunately the critics clearly identified the boring stupidity of it all. Even at that time.
Hidden behind a surface of self-righteousness by pretending to tackle major issues like the print of humanity on Earth and global warming, 'Bio-Dome' surprisingly finds some ways to offer us overly stereotyped charatcters, terrible acting, incredibly bad 'jokes' (I almost can't qualify these lines of 'jokes') and awkward moments, superficial and objectified women, a childish plot and a messy structure, the whole surely produced by a set of people whose IQ is to be situated not far from 10. I was already able to bet on the quality of this movie from its drafty opening credits. Don't watch if you care about your mental and neural health.
The one and only positive point I found is that the soundtrack is not that bad. Well at least it kind of matches with the spirit of this thing. But that's all. And it is already being generous about it.
That Metascore does not make sense whatsoever. There's a mixed review so shouldn't it be higher than 1? My calculator says it should be at 6, not 1. In any way, Bio-Dome has got to be one of the dumbest comedies I've ever seen that's featuring Pauly Shore.
