The Quadros-1 probe was a deep space probe that charted stars of the Gamma Quadrant in the 22nd century, including the Idran system. Findings of the probe were stored in the computers of Federation starships, such as the USS Rio Grande.
Benjamin Sisko and Jadzia Dax used the data from Quadros-1 to identify Idran after they had entered the Gamma Quadrant through the Bajoran wormhole in 2369. (DS9: "Emissary")
According to Star Trek: Star Charts (pp. 72-73) and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"), the Quadros-1 probe was launched in 2193 and was operational to 2369. The probe's course would bring it close to Quasar M39, on the outer rim of the galaxy.
Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Stellar Cartography", p. 8) mentioned that Quadros-3 and Quadros-4 were launched after the Dominion War.
