Defender passes medical
Alberto Botía is now a Sevilla player. The defender has been signed from Asturian club Sporting de Gijón with the help of the Doyen Group - an Anglo-Portuguese investment firm – which handles the player's affairs and also cooperated with Sevilla for the signing of young French midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia (from Lens).
A deal between the Spanish Olympic international centre-back and the Andalusian club was finalised earlier. Botía arrived in Seville earlier today, where he passed a medical examination and signed the contract. He will play on loan for one season, after which Seville will have the option to sign the defender on a permanent basis.
23-year-old Botía – from Alquerías (Murcia) – learnt his trade in the Barcelona youth team. He will join in Sevilla's pre-season preparations after barely having any holiday time, due to the fact that he participated in the London Olympic Games with the Spain team.
