In exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 172(2) of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994(1), I hereby make the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1994 and extends to the United Kingdom and to the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

2.  Section 159(1), (2) and (4) of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 (Backing of Warrants: Republic of Ireland) shall come into force on 19th December 1994.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order, the first Commencement Order to be made in respect of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, brings into force two amendments to the Backing of Warrants (Republic of Ireland) Act 1965 (c. 45) on 19th December 1994.
