Welcome to the James Edwards site dedicated to celebrating the life and work of James Edwards (1805-1867) of the Dalehall Pottery, Burslem, Staffordshire, pioneer of white ironstone china production and design, philanthropist and educator.
The site provides a unique resource for all Dalehall and other ironstone enthusiasts. The design database shows images of the actual patent applications submitted by James Edwards. The gallery depicts the varied wares of James Edwards: white ironstone, transfer and flow blue china together with the varied marks used by the company. There is also a handy reference of British design numbers and diamond marks covering all manufacturers for the period 1842 – 1883 together with a description of the wares pertaining to the patent application where known.
