It's shocking how a writer and director gets worse instead of better with every film they make. Every time I see BondIt Media Capital having funded a film (all of Edward Drake's flops), I question if BondIt is simply a money laundering front, because there's no way they're making money on all these failed films, and they seem to keep funding every flop film ever made - usually nothing better than a 3/10 rating. Once again, Drake's writing was atrocious, with convoluted and incoherent scenes and dialogue. Literally, there are scenes when various characters blab on and on about nothing. Then there's Drake's directing 90's slow-mo scenes, with faded and blurred flashbacks, that although I saw the first film, still made no sense why those scenes were needed, as they were just meaningless, random events from the first film. As usual, he also failed to direct his cast effectively, as Willis looked barely awake, and Paul Johansson was just too overbearing like he was on speed the entire runtime. I can't believe there's a third and thankfully final film of this trilogy.

By now we all know the situation. Bruce Willis is in bad health and struggling with early onset dementia. These direct to streaming films are built around him. Rarely has it been more obvious than here. Entire scenes go without him saying a word and the other actors exposition dumping what should have been his dialogue.
While the first Detective Knight film built up a semi interesting villain and a decent motivation for Willis, this one is almost incoherent. The criminal from the first movie is back, and we're supposed to root for him, but his character makes one dumb decision after the next, and for a protagonist, he's not proactive enough.
Willis is barely in it. His former partner is in a wheel chair and all of his scenes should have been Willis's, but they needed someone who can remember their lines.
One major flaw is the film's villain. After a very strong opening scene which actually had me hyped, the villain turns into a cliché crazy preacher guy who wants to topple the system. Seen and heard it all before. As the film goes on, he becomes more and more ridiculous, and so does the motivation of others to follow him. The actor does his best with the role, but it's very badly written. He's the only actor who really puts in an effort. Everyone else sleepwalks through their roles.
The ambient score is effective at first but gets on your nerves after a while, as does the terrible color grading. The movie is way too dark and saturated. The shot blocking isn't bad, but for some reason they decide to shine red and green lights on the actors nonstop. The finale then gets AvP Requiem bad in terms of color grading. It's so dark you can barely make out what's what.
I will say that the opening scene and some of the bank robberies are quite intense, and the chanting is quite effective at building tension.
A pity. If you're looking for one of Bruce's last films, watch Paradise City, which was actually pretty decent.

I can only assume that before his announcement that he was retiring from the film industry, (Bruce) Willis must have worked overtime to churn out a lot of films before hanging up his guns etc. I didn't immediately notice the following (but it dropped everything into place with the styling of the films unfurling) that the script parts for Bruce were kept very limited -and short- which, would assist greatly in his ability to remember his lines etc; his debilitating sickness makes it hard for him in this subject matter.. As a prequel to the first film its a no go in that it is boringly tame and nothing of value to make it an unforgettable film.
If you saw part 1 then watch this part2 to complete your interest!

I have simply written a review because of the mindless idiots saying awful stuff about Bruce Willis who Cleary have no idea what they are on about.
If they were movie fans or indeed Bruce Willis fans Thet would know he is ill and this is why he is not in many scenes and looks confused disinterested or puzzled! It's because of his ongoing dementia.
Have a heart and do your research before being so horrible to a very talented actor who has simply tried the last few years but has now had to retire!
This guy gave us die hard twelve monkeys the fifth element and many more he is a legend and will be sorley missed in the movies!!

James Knight (Bruce Willis) is no longer a cop after the events of the first movie. He is in jail with Casey Rhodes (Beau Mirchoff) as they wait for their trial. A Christmas-themed bank robbery gang led by evil Santa Ricky Conlan (Paul Johansson) is hounding the city.
The first movie is almost passable. I really like Beau Mirchoff in that one. He is able to do the heavy lifting in place of Bruce. Bruce is not doing well. I am surprised to see that he did so many movies in his last year. I am shocked that he did a trilogy of these movies. This one struggles mightily as he becomes more the lead character again. He cannot lead anything at this point in his illness. For some reason, this one turns into a comic book story. They're trying to make evil Santa into a Joker-like figure. It's really bad.

Script seems written by someone who has never written a movie script before in their life. Nothing is appealing or entertaining at all in this repellant waste of EVERYONE'S time. It's not Bruce's fault. His scenes could have been performed by an automaton. The 'effects' even suck, from the first gun shot, where the victim's blood squirt happens BEFORE the trigger is pulled. Music must have been free. It's ultra -generic and utterly blows. And the whole premise of the movie was a stupid idea to begin with. Shame on EVERYONE involved with the 'making' of this embarrassment, except Bruce, who I feel sorry for.

"I'm gonna shove a Christmas tree up your ass and set it on fire"
Detective Knight: Redemption is directed by Edward Drake and stars Bruce Willis, Paul Johansson, Lochlyn Munro and Beau Mirchoff. My expectations were at ground level going into this since this is a sequel to Detective Knight: Rouge which in it of itself was not a good movie. Also now knowing everything we know about Bruce Willis (and considering this was one of the last movies he filmed before his retirement) I expected this to be dreadful to watch. Surprisingly to me it wasn't. This is kind of fun to watch in a guilty pleasure sort of way.
Detective Knight: Redemption isn't awful but it's not great either. The storyline here is way less convoluted than Rouge. It seems like everyone here for the most part was actually trying to make a competent movie. This is by far the best movie Edward Drake has directed (although if you look at his IMDB page that's not a hard accomplishment) Paul Johansson is easily the best part of this movie and he makes it work for the most part by cheesing it up to 11. It was also nice to see Lochlyn Munro have a bigger role here than the first even if he's stuck in a wheelchair. Bruce Willis disappears for long stretches of time here and he barley has any dialogue, his voice is dubbed in some spots and I don't think he shares a scene with most of the other actors in this movie. But that's to be expected at this point with the state he's in.
Towards the end of this movie it did put a smirk on my face to see Bruce Willis actually smiling and delivering witty dialogue. It was a quick and small glimpse of the charismatic movie star we all fell in love with in the first place.
Detective Knight: Independence is supposed to release in January. I hope the upward trend for this trilogy continues so the last thing on Willis' IMDB page doesn't have a 3.8 next to it.

I don't regret watching the movie but it was okay I can't give it all thumbs up but it was good acting I have seen better Bruce Willis movies in the past but I can't complain too much for a guy who is up in age dealing with health issues, I will say this much it's not one of them movies that I will watch more than one time I do consider myself a somewhat of a Bruce Willis fan he made great movies he is one hell of an actor but this movie could have been better in so many ways i honestly don't know where to I didn't understand a few things about the movie I'm trying not to say too much without spoiling it for someone else.

Bruce Willis has only got a small supporting role, but he is still THE MAN. He is has gotta battle a group of vicious bankrobbers this time around...
Let us not forget that Bruce is suffering from a severe neurological disease which affects his voice and muscles. Considering all that, he still does a heck of a job.
I have seen ALL Bruce Willis' movies and I would recommend this movie, but only for the true Bruce Willis fans, who wanna watch all his latest work, no matter what.
This movie is actually not that bad. Seriously, I am being honest. It is a tough action B-movie. Look upon it as a B-movie and you'll have an enjoyable watch. Expect another Die Hard and you'll be severely disappointed though...
Lots of shootouts. Lots of them. And they are pretty decent shootouts. Lots of oneliners by Bruce. Pretty good photography and editing. The soundscore is okay.
All in all not bad, considering Bruce Willis is in his last years of his life and fighting a severe neurological disease.
At an (excrucially) important sidenote, let us not forget WHY we are watching Bruce Willis movies to begin with. We watch Bruce Willis movies because of DIE HARD (1988). THE ONE AND ONLY BIGGEST ACTION AMERICAN ACTION CLASSIC OF THE CENTURY.
This classic is still standing strong after more than 30 years. Millions of people still REwatch it during every Christmas holiday. Recently a petition was launched to rename Nakatomi Plaza into DIE HARD plaza.
A life time achievement award for Bruce Willis is in the making as well, so I have heard...
DIE HARD (1988) NEVER DIES but is still ALIVE AND KICKING in 2022. Let's celebrate that.

Now, I haven't seen the 2022 movie "Detective Knight: Rogue", so I don't know what I missed out on here. But I have to say that the 2022 "Detective Knight: Redemption" felt like a stand-alone movie, so I guess it wasn't wholly and fully necessary to have seen the other movie first.
When I sat down to watch "Detective Knight: Redemption", I have to say that I wasn't exactly harboring a lot of expectations to the movie, since the endless stream of Bruce Willis movies these past few years have been dubious at best.
But still, since I hadn't already seen "Detective Knight: Redemption", and had the chance to do so, of course I did.
I will say that writers Edward Drake and Corey Lange put together a fair enough script and storyline for the movie. It was actually much better than I had initially feared it to be, so it was an enjoyable action thriller. Sure, this wasn't top of the line, but it proved to be enjoyable and entertaining, and isn't that what movies are all about?
It wasn't because of Bruce Willis that the movie turned out good, because he wasn't on the screen for that long really. Nay, the movie was made watchable by Paul Johansson (playing Ricky Conlan). He really carried the movie quite well.
There is a good amount of action in the movie, and that definitely helped to keep the movie afloat.
The special effects, and by that I mean the blood spray when bullets hit people, was just laughably bad. Amazing how such horrible CGI can get green-lighted.
All in all, then director Edward Drake put together a watchable movie. Not that it is a movie that I will ever return to again, but it provided enough entertainment for a single viewing.
My rating of "Detective Knight: Redemption" lands on a five out of ten stars.

This is another one of the silliest Bruce Willis movie I have seen, sorry, I know he has some sort of issue, but he still does 5 movies a year with the same script, same character and same ending, old man takes on 50 guys with machine guns, kills them all and survives, this is a pure example of creed, Willis has enough money to live for generations happily but wants to degrade himself for the all MIghty dollar .
His last 10 movies where terrible and this one hits rock bottom, imagine Santa Clause criminals killing everything in sight, I love Willis old movies , but now he is just a cheap creedy overpaid has been .

I've no idea who Edward Drake s, but I'll be sure to avoid anything else with his name on in the future......
Christ on a bike this was dull, dreadful acting and overacting by 70 percent of the crew. Poor plot, full of holes, like a fine Swiss cheese .
Broken, hotchpotch of a plot, I nearly nodded off, but I'm a sucker for punishment, so I watched til the end.
I can only imagine Bruce Willis read the script and thought it'd be an easy day at the office, or maybe he was a bit skint? Throughput the movie he looked almost as bored as I did, in the reflection of the 43.5'' screen.
Thank god I didn't have to pay to watch it !
All in, the main issue was, it was around 1 hour 37 minutes too long.

Might made this movie while taking coke
No sense of dialogue.
Most irritating movie ever seen Each and every scene is nothing but senseless.
Why prison is killing without point looks like trying to make cheap copy of any batman or joker movie.
Please stop making these movie and you made 3 of them. JUST A SHAME PLEASE DON'T WATCH IT A Waste of time day or even second.
We are so close we are so close repeated so many times that make your head bursting like 100 times Why to make such movie perhaps ask us to die Policemen so incapable unable to fight but one can fight fearlessly without even getting single shot.

Detective Knight: Redemption is the follow up to another Edward Drake film, that was released earlier this year, called Detective Knight: Rogue- in which Bruce Willis plays a trigger happy cop- in a blatant attempt to capitalize off his Die Hard fame- who goes rogue, and ends up in jail.
This film picks up from that point, and, whereas the previous film took place on Halloween...this installation takes place around Christmas.
With the arch villain being a former vet, turned serial bank robber- and murderer- known as "The Christmas Bomber".
This character is clearly based on the Unabomber, in the sense that you tend to agree with the main tenets of his logic, but disagree with the nature of the actions he takes.
After breaking his legion of Santa masked followers out of prison...he plans to rob a "secret bank" that tailors to the 1%.
Forcing those that don't agree with him, to go along with his plans...by means of threatening their families.
Think, like Negan in the Walking Dead, before his change of heart.
But the acting is bad; the writing is worse; and the plot is so horribly developed, that it's hard to feel engaged by the story at all.
Making it one of the most horrible heist films I've ever wasted my time watching.
It honestly makes me feel bad for Bruce Willis.
Is this what his career has come to? Or was this just a simple cash grab...for a half assed performance in a film he knew full well would be a bad from the start?
Because he's either lost his touch, or wasn't even trying.
I'm leaning towards the latter.
Steer well clear of the entire Detective Knight series (a third film is already slated for release in 2023).
It's just not worth the time.
1 out of 10.

Really!? What a pile of cheap crap. The acting is soooooo bad, the storyline is horrible and what the hell Bruce Willis? Is he desperate for money or what!? Total waste of one's time. There is so much better quality stuff out there across all genres. Who actually thought this was worth producing? Were they drunk, delusional or both?
Incredibly disappointed in Willis on this one. I was embarrassed for him and the rest of the cast. Hard to understand how anyone could be entertained by this, even for a moment. Watched it through because I just couldn't believe it wasn't gonna get better, or there was something I was missing.
Willis isn't that great of an actor compared to others, but usually much more entertaining and there's a storyline that is plausible, but this.... I expect predictable from this kind of movie, of course, but this one... if it was paper, it wouldn't even be good firestarter.
Sooooo bad.

Well, mostly this 2nd entry feels like the production value went up a tad in the "we tried" category except for the audio being off like old school dubbed films lol. The addition of Paul Johansson was a decent credit to add to a believable portrayal of character. (Sorry trying to avoid spoilers)
But it's savagely more noticeable in this entry that Bruce has declined severely in his cognitive abilities. The few scenes and lines he has still feel forged or broken at best. He looks disheveled, unaware he's really on camera, always looks like he's off in some mental cloud. Some of the CGI blood spatters seemed to have held much more realism and probably cheaper had they used practical fx. This one, was a bit overboard on believable story even for action, crime thriller types. But, as a fan, I had to stick it out and again, then ending just sort of......ends. These have the film chop ability and feel of old school adults films when they had stories but in a minimal budget action/thriller instead. It hurts to see Bruce like this. One more entry to go.
I don't even know where to begin with this one. The dialogue in this movie is abhorrent. Every single line of dialogue uttered is so formulaic and derivative that it makes you wonder why in the world you should even continue watching. It's like it was written by an Ai that was fed bad action films.
On a technical side: large amounts of dialogue are clearly recorded after shooting and just thrown in without going through an equalizer or being synced to what's spoken on screen. A lot of it sounds like they just sent a WhatsApp voice message and threw it in to the video editor.
On the Blu-ray, there is a behind the scenes clip where the director mentions that the shooting for all three Detective Knight movies were done in 28 days or something like that. It really shows.
This movie was clearly made as cheaply as possible, although it may not be obvious at first. The cinematography and colors look good enough. If you saw a still or a trailer of it, you'd probably think it was an average action flick. But don't be fooled. There are terrible special effects. Missing sound effects on firing guns. Weird use of green screen that will have you scratching your head (The after credits scene is a joke, right?)

I tried to watch this movie. Its super slow and acting not not good. I slept after 20 mins later. So no need to watch this and spend precious time for this. Plus Bruce Willis quality not enough to save the movie. I am dissapointed to see him in this movie. The scenes not good. The timeline of movie is not perfect. Whic part is past or present or future not clear. So you will be mixed up and confiused where how when or whats going to happen. Dont spoil yourself over this movie.
My final words, watch something else much more fun, comedy, action or entertainment. This movie is not great. Hope you will get what I meant.
