Little of this series remains. Until 2006, only approximately fifteen minutes (the fourth and fifth film reels) of the final episode survived, plus some clips including the titles. The sequel, The Andromeda Breakthrough (1962), survives in its entirety.
In January 2006, a 16mm print of episode six (The Face of the Tiger (1961) ) was recovered from a private collector and returned to the BBC Film Library.
In late 2006 the complete soundtrack to final edition The Last Mystery (1961) was recovered as an off-air recording. Sadly the discovery was made too late for inclusion on the BBC's "The Andromeda Anthology" DVD release.
The series takes place from 1970 to 1972.
