Jeannie Lee(I)
- Actress
- Art Department
- Producer
Inspired by summers spent in the fashion district of Seoul, Korea and
her subsequent study of fashion design and art history at the
University of Florence, Italy, Jeannie Lee set out to open what she
imagined might be a small specialty shop featuring her own personal
take on style.
Armed with a passion for the humanities, a hunger for travel and a love of discovering new talent, Ms. Lee embarked on a quest to discover the cutting edge of art and artisans in the International World of Fashion. Sensing a void in the representation of independent designers, Ms. Lee was determined to curate a collection, which would give such innovators a forum.
The result was "Satine" which exploded onto LA's boutique scene in 2003, offering up not only her favorite finds from newly discovered designers, but one-of-a-kind pieces she fell in love with along the way, as well as hand picked gems she couldn't resist by top designer from Paris, Tokyo, New York, and Los Angeles Collections.
Satine generated such excitement and buzz from stylists, editors, taste makers, and artists that two additional stores soon followed, propelling Ms. Lee to the center of our most exclusive, high-end, multi-brand fashion world, and onto the pages of such diverse publications as Vogue, Elle, Vanity Fair, and InStyle to Nylon, Lucky, Variety, Daily Candy and W to name a few.
It was only a matter of time before Satine would not only launch its own clothing label but its first international boutique in the shopping mecca of Aoyama, Tokyo.
What many people don't realize is; Satine was first conceived as a "day job" to support Jeannie Lee's pursuit of acting. Although the explosion of that "small specialty shop" provided an immensely enjoyable distraction, now, with Satine all grown up, Ms. Lee is returning to her first love, and grateful to finally focus her talents and attentions on her career as both actor and producer.
