My dad's father passed away when he was about 3 weeks old. He never knew much about his dad's side of the family so I recently started searching on ancestry.com and found more family than I could imagine. The biggest boost was when a F.A.G. member posted a picture of his grandmother's gravestone. I was able to find her death certificate which had her father's name and her mother's maiden name (!) I've been able to fill in a whole side of his family that we thought was lost to us forever.

This was such a huge event in my dad's life that I decided to do the same thing for other families. I personally go to cemeteries and take photos of headstones. You have my permission to use any of my photographs; maybe you'll be inspired to start taking photos too.
