Reign Over Me is the most honest reflection of the 911 phenomenon and features the amazing acting by one reformed comedian. It is a film that resonates with me as strongly as the memory of the plane crashing into the tower itself. And it has all this without firefighters, debris, and pathetic speeches. Bravo! ()
I won’t deny the sensitive portrayal of Adam Sandler’s character, as well as the deep connections between the characters, but the rest not have such an impact. It is a slow and unremarkable film that mainly relies on the cast and the well-crafted atmosphere. There are unnecessary characters and some scenes did not really touch my heart. One thing is certain though, Sandler delivers the best performance of his career, and for that alone the film is worth watching. ()
More like 3 and 1/2 stars. For the first hour, Mike Binder kind of stumbles around, making you like characters he doesn't really say anything about. Fortunately, things take a bit of a turn towards the end and the emotions really come out. Don Cheadle and Adam Sandler's performances are flawless, but if the film had a little faster pace and pushed the emotions a little more, it would have definitely been better. ()
A serious Sandler is definitely not for me and now I know that for a fact. This script is unnecessarily lengthy. In a shorter version it probably wouldn't have been bad. But the presentation and the acting are terrible. A lot of scenes unnecessarily overacted and some unfinished. The film didn't fill me up in any way and really only touched me with a few words that I'll probably forget soon anyway. ()
Luxury beyond my wildest dreams. A very heartwarming story of two friends, where one wants to help the other with a challenging life situation connected with September 11th, however, such a thing is not easy at all, and the creators managed to brilliantly portray the fates of the characters, with whom you will easily start to empathize and try to understand them. Adam Sandler doesn't have a very good reputation, but I firmly believe that his performance here must have convinced even the most die-hard critic and proven to them that Adam can also play a strong role. Alongside him, the likeable Don Cheadle and the pleasant Liv Tyler can truly draw a person into the plot. I'm speechless. The film absolutely blew me away, and long after the credits, I had to think about it...100% ()
