Pilot: I won’t give up on it yet, but I don’t even really like the main protagonist or the production design packed full of superfluous special effects. The screenplay makes John too human and where’s the cloud of cigarette smoke? It’s obvious that the pilot is in a hurry and wants to deal with as much as possible, but it literally wrecks the tempo and so there’s no time for the players to relish in any snappy lines, they’re lucky if you have time to spit out their text. I’ll give it a chance, but so far it’s nowhere near as entertaining as the comic book original or the movie. ()
The pilot absolutely got me. The series started off strong and the casting was excellent. Matt Ryan, although without his characteristic cigarette, always came up with cool lines and captured the audience from the first minute. Unfortunately, they wasted the best on the first episode, and since then, the quality and enjoyment have declined along with the ratings. I don't regret giving those 13 episodes a chance, but I'm not sure if I want to watch the second season, which will probably happen in the end...70% ()
