In 1940, during the Battle of Britain, rookie pilot Peter Penrose is assigned to serve with Flight Lt David Archdale at RAF Station Halfpenny Field. By 1942 David has become acting C.O. but Peter is beginning to show signs of combat fatigue a situation that David cannot leave unresolved. (Network)

It's not focused on the war itself, or indeed on the bombing as such, but simply on the people who live on the air base and work there. Yes, it's not exactly an easy life, but the people depicted here are still just people, after all. And this was captured very well. Even airmen are only human. ()
