The pilot was about average. But I gave it a second chance and the cuteness of Melissa Benoist is really bulletproof. She was also great during the nonsensical Glee era, when it didn't make any sense at all. Calista Flockhart, who I've been looking forward to seeing since Ally McBeal, is absolutely excellent in Season 1. Unfortunately, however, the show’s move from CBS to the CW didn't suit her and we don't see her in later seasons. If it weren't for the spectacular events across the Arrowverse in later years, there would be no point in continuing with Supergirl overall. But for people who like to reminisce about their first experiences with Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman or Supergirl (1984), this may not be such a waste of time. Years later, the DC/CW girls' series are finally rounded out by Batwoman, Stargirl, and Superman & Lois also have their own series. So there's plenty to choose from. ()
Melissa Benoist is quite okay, that's it. So many awkward dialogues and situations!!!... Overall, pretty weak, it has its good moments, but in the last four episodes, I drowned the most in awkward dialogues, especially in the (not) grand finale. And those speeches and monologues, ugh. And that terrible cliffhanger! This is not how it's done! A good cliffhanger would be showing who is on that ship and then let the fans deal with it. I don't expect CW to improve the show in any way, rather the opposite, because if the viewership decreases, so does the budget, and the creators remain, so nothing special. And Superman made me angry, nothing against the actor (yet) and while I didn't watch Smallville, I like this interconnection and was hoping for the engagement of the ex-Clark Kent. After two seasons, I'm done watching. Melissa Benoist is still great, but although I'm not a sexist or anything, the visible women's emancipation and engagement of the LGBT community is just an overwhelming challenge for me. Combined with the quality of individual episodes, of which only a few really amused me, the nearly complete or complete omission of favorite characters (Cat Grant, where the hell is Maxwell Lord???) and also the very full schedule of much higher quality and shorter series, I just have to finish with Supergirl after two seasons. So, I finished it five months later, and it was agony. I'll give it a three because of Melissa. ()
