The tiny city-state of Cremona has been shocked by a string of gruesome murders. As only vicious killers are being targeted, and from an enigmatic mark left at each crime scene, people call this mysterious executioner, "Killer B". When former detective Keith Kazama Flick is called back on duty after an eight-year-long hiatus, a new team assembles at the Royal Investigation Service with the purpose of putting an end to the bloodshed. But Flick appears burdened by too many ghosts from his past. And as a much greater and ominous scheme starts emerging, he will need to come to terms with them all. (Madman Entertainment)

English The Beginning – 90% – It's hard to say how this wide-ranging fusion of genres would succeed in live-action form. In its animated form, however, it offers an unprecedented opportunity to see how dark crime from David Fincher's best era works alongside lighthearted investigative team drama and fantasy almost reminiscent of the Bible with its regenerations and rituals. B:The Beginning is one of those cases where I completely understand that for some viewers, crossing these boundaries may be too much and the result may seem irreconcilable. But I jumped between the different moods with enthusiasm and looked forward both to the action scenes and nerve-wracking chases and to the illuminating flashbacks. Succession – 70% – A departure from the main direction, which the viewers found somewhat troubling. Both with the minimal number of episodes, where a season anticipated for three years is gone in a longer evening, and with the development of characters. Keith, the most beloved character, is separated from the main plot the whole time, and even though the episode with his confession is by far the strongest, one cannot help but feel that more would truly be more in this case. Hopefully, this small misstep does not mean a lack of inspiration, as few series have brought me as much joy with their rocket-like start in recent years. That's why I will only be glad the next time crime and fantasy can mix, rather than just standing side by side. ()

English Unnecessarily overcomplicated, perhaps even pretending to be complicated at trivialities, which tends to be a malady of many similar Japanese series. Basically, it doesn't stand out from the ranks of these in any way: either with its animation, music, or story. It's actually kind of an average show, but if you're not used to crime dramas, it'll may have something new to offer you. 50%. ()
