Plots(1)

After the tragic death of her mother, fourteen year old fashion blogger Victoria must decide between living in a state home or moving to a little village to live with a father she has never met. She at first sees the village environment as an exotic zoo full of great topics for her blog, but finds it impossible to live in. Her father resists all her makeover projects, prefering to spend his time with his veterinary practice and drinking with his pals down the pub. The social workers and villagers are eventually drawn into the family feud. The family split looms just as Victoria starts to understand her father and falls in love for the first time... English I like Anna Kadeřávková, she is nice, pretty, and has a very pleasant voice. She managed the role of a conceited goose decently, Pavel Řezníček also always delivers a likable performance. A non-violent and undemanding pastime that contains very few awkward moments, or another fairy tale on the theme of correcting a naughty daughter/taming an evil woman, etc. ()

English This is a film that reminds people that there is no need to always remember the normalization period in Czechoslovakia. It's actually quite alright. ()

Necrotongue Boo!

English What an abomination. After just ten minutes, I was engaged in a fierce internal struggle, desperately wanting to turn it off but also not wanting to admit defeat. I gathered all my strength, pulled myself together, and made it to the bitter end. The plot was absolutely groundbreaking, with the city moving to the countryside, something that has never been seen before. Four screenwriters put together such a farce the likes of which you can otherwise encounter only in Eva Toulová's films. A spoiled Instagram influencer and a veterinarian without couscous are the sad heroes of this story. The idiotic plot and demented dialogue were brilliantly complemented by actors whom I don't like: Mišík, Černocká, Hrachovcová, Latinák, and especially Linda Rybová. It was a highly unpleasant experience that I would never voluntarily repeat. / No lessons learned this time. I just have a question: Why Dominika Myslivcová? ()

English A fairytale about a fourteen-year-old princess, completely out-of-touch with reality, being forced to move to the countryside to live with her father that she has never seen before. The punchline is, of course, that youngsters have a lot to learn from their elders, and vice versa. The princess finds herself a prince and learns to live in the countryside. And that’s it for the storyline! The whole thing is noisy, unbearably naive, embarrassingly unfunny and a tragic failure in terms of acting performance (Adam Mišík, seriously?!). The ultimate flop is the stereotypical characters – sure, it’s a necessity to depict the normal Czech backcountry as being populated only by complete yokels and tractor drivers (quite the opposite of city folk), but as soon as there’s trouble, they stick together and are friendly as hell. Ha! Of course, at some point in the story, Barbie manages to assist at the birth of cute little puppies (one, two, three: shed a tear!) and, in the end, the young female audience is given the message that they can very well be happy, loved and popular, especially if they look gorgeous even without make-up and have a handsome bloke by their side. English At the beginning, the film is absolutely unbearable, perhaps because the actress in the main role is so precise, so dreadful, and so atrocious in what she presents. It's hard to say if she's just that good, but I don't think her absolutely necessary transformation was that believable. But there were a few jokes that made me laugh. Otherwise quite tragic, and mostly, the characters are quite bad at times. ()
