Schon als Kind hat sich John Dolittle mit seinen gefiederten, pelzigen und schuppigen Freunden bestens unterhalten können. Damals wurden ihm die animalischen Flausen von seinem strengen Vater aber gehörig ausgetrieben. Jetzt, als erfolgreichen Arzt und Familienvater, holt Dr. Dolittle die märchenhafte Gabe wieder ein. Schnell hat sich das Wunder in der Tierwelt herumgesprochen. Im Nu kann sich der 'Tierarzt wider Willen' des Ansturms geschwätziger Kunden kaum noch erwehren. (ORF)

I used to like this movie a lot on TV. Sure, it was mainly because it was about animals, it was cute, and I was totally into it. Kids like this sort of thing a lot. Otherwise, it's just a pretty ordinary comedy about how one guy can do something others can't, everyone thinks he's nuts, but he proves to them that he's gifted.

I spent a lot of time watching this movie when I was a kid, and I always had fun. But when I look back at Dr. Dolittle now after 10 years, I can hardly help smiling bitterly. Was this farce really my favourite comedy? 50%

I don't know, I liked the whole series as a kid and especially the first one. Eddie Murphy is a likable guy, and even though he later signed up for many questionable roles, in my opinion, the role of Dr. Dolittle is successful, and I enjoyed the movie even after years. Let me keep it as a guilty pleasure at least... 81%
