11 And before them stood ^dseventy men of ^ethe elders of the house of Israel, with Jaazaniah the son of ^fShaphan standing among them. Each had his censer in his hand, and ^gthe smoke of the cloud of incense went up. 12 Then he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel are doing ^hin the dark, each ⁱin his room of pictures? For they say, ^j‘The Lord does not see us, the Lord has forsaken the land.’”

1 Then certain of the ^eelders of Israel came to me ^eand sat before me.

Israel’s Continuing Rebellion

1 ^qIn the seventh year, in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month, certain of ^rthe elders of Israel came to inquire of the Lord, ^sand sat before me.

3 ^t“Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel, and say to them, Thus says the Lord God, Is it to inquire of me that you come? ^uAs I live, declares the Lord God, ^vI will not be inquired of by you.
