  • The ECO section is organising a high-level debate on Defence Funding in the EU. This topic is of utmost importance in the current political debate, particularly given the new geopolitical context, the new EU institutional and legislative cycle that is just starting, and the preparations for the post-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework. 

  • The EESC is organising this public debat to discuss how civil society partners can use a results-orientation approach in cohesion policy for the next programming period. The principles of multi-level governance and shared management are contradictory or complementary to the results-focused cohesion policy ?

  • The 19th meeting of the EU-China Round Table will take place in Beijing, China on 17 December 2024.

    At this occasion the delegations of the EESC and its Chinese counterpart, the CESC, will discuss the following topics:

    • Strengthening EU-China cooperation in the field of circular economy 
    • Promoting sustainable development in the EU-China economic relations

    An initiative of the Civil Society Organisations’ Group in cooperation with Friends of the Earth Europe

    The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) presents the photo exhibition ‘Powerful Encounters: Picturing an end to energy poverty’ on the initiative of its Civil Society Organisations’ Group and in cooperation with Friends of the Earth Europe. The work of photographer Miriam Strong will be exhibited from 4 to 16 December 2024 at the EESC’s premises in Brussels.

  •  20 years on, having overcome early growing pains, navigated teenage challenges, and experienced both successes and setbacks, the Liaison Group stands strong as a reliable and trusted partner, offering consistent value and expertise to the EESC. 

  • Water challenges: Exploring consumer perspective - Moving ahead on EU Blue Deal

    The topic of the European Consumer Day 2024 is "Water challenges: Exploring consumer perspective - Moving ahead on the EU Blue Deal". This will cover, on one side, consumer protection in terms of ensuring access to water at an affordable price, including vulnerable consumers, touching also upon the aspects of water quality and quantity. On the other side, it would involve water-efficient consumption, with a focus on changing consumer habits in order to make the water consumption more sustainable, making use of innovative tools and technology.
