The Policy Advisory Group (PAG) acts as the Prime Minister’s policy 'eyes and ears'.
PAG plays an important role in providing the Prime Minister with advice on emerging policy issues and supporting his office. We provide expert advice on policy and process and work with the Prime Minister’s Chief Science Advisor.
PAG advisors are the Prime Minister’s main advisors outside of his Private Office. Their advice goes straight to the Prime Minister.
Each advisor is responsible for a portfolio of Government business, usually spanning the work of several Ministers and departments. Advisors also work collaboratively as necessary.
Collective approach
PAG's coordination and stewardship roles require us to work across the public service and with other key stakeholders. This collective approach provides leadership that enables the public service as a whole to carry out the business of government to best effect.
Where we can, we take a medium to longer term view that incorporates a strategic perspective, to ensure policy coherence.
