School Bus Safety & Expectations
Riding the school bus is a privilege and all students are expected to follow safe riding practices.
The safety of our students is the main priority of District Transportation employees. Behavioral expectations on the school bus are much like those in the classroom.
If there is an infraction to the bus rules, a referral is turned into the school administrator, who is responsible for contacting the student and parent to resolve the situation. Most buses have video cameras, which are used to verify incidents.

Special Needs Transportation
When a student requires special transportation services, the CSD Transportation Department works closely with school staff involved in the student's education plan to determine the best transportation solutions for Special Needs students.
The Process
- Transportation for children with special needs is determined by a committee of people involved in that student's education plan.
- A special needs transportation request is submitted by the school administrator and processed by the Transportation Department.
- Five to seven days are needed to obtain all emergency information, process routing information, and communicate with parents and other professionals involved.
-
Inclement Weather
In the case of inclement weather conditions, the District will notify parents as soon as possible in regard to school closures or early dismissals.
School Closures
The Superintendent makes the final decision about whether to delay the opening of school or close school for the entire day.The decision is made after administrative staff report from various positions in the county regarding road conditions. A decision will be made and the public will be notified as early as possible, using the district website, email, local media outlets, and the ParentLink parent notification system.
Early Dismissals
If there is an early dismissal from school, students will be sent home on their regular assigned bus, and the District will notify parents as soon as the decision is made.
