Free Meals for All Students
All students in the Christina School District will receive free breakfast and lunch each day of the 2024-2025 school year. Every student, regardless of family income level, in every district school building will receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at no charge each day.
Families do not need to submit the Meal Benefit Form for eligibility.
A la carte items, snacks, and second meals will still be available for purchase at the schools. Students must pay for these items with cash, check, or the pre-paid balance on their school meal accounts. -

Food Allergies
For students who have food allergies, it is extremely important that you notify your school nurse and provide necessary documentation before their return to school. If you have any questions about what you need to provide, please contact your school nurse as soon as possible.

Alliance for a Healthier Generation 2013
The Alliance for a Healthier Generation works to address one of the nation’s leading public health threats—childhood obesity. The goal of the Alliance is to reduce the prevalence of childhood obesity by 2015, and to empower kids nationwide to make healthy lifestyle choices. Founded in 2005 by the American Heart Association and William J. Clinton Foundation, the Alliance works to positively affect the places that can make a difference in a child’s health: homes, schools, doctor’s offices, and communities.Healthy Schools ProgramSchools are powerful places to shape the health, education and well-being of our children. That is why the Alliance’s Healthy Schools Program supports more than 14,000 schools across the U.S. in their efforts to create environments where physical activity and healthy eating are accessible and encouraged.The Alliance provides expert advice and resources for school professionals, teachers and students in addition to information specifically for parents. HealthierUS School Challenge 2012
The HealthierUS School Challenge (HUSSC) is a voluntary certification initiative established in 2004 to recognize those schools participating in the National School Lunch Program that have created healthier school environments through promotion of nutrition and physical activity.
In February 2010, First Lady Michelle Obama introduced Let’s Move!, incorporating the HealthierUS School Challenge into her campaign to raise a healthier generation of kids. At that time, monetary incentive awards became available for each HUSSC award level: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Gold Award of Distinction.To date, HUSSC awards have been given to schools in 48 states. About Child Nutrition Services
Child Nutrition Services (CNS) of the Christina School District is committed to providing well-balanced meals that contribute to the health and well-being of our students. We believe nutrition influences a student's development, lifelong health status, and potential for learning. CNS provides breakfast and lunch in all K-12 buildings in the Christina School District.The program is managed in accordance with the National School Lunch Act, policies established by the Christina School District Board of Education, the Department of Health, and the Delaware Department of Education. Part of the program is the approval of meal benefit forms for free and reduced-price school meals.
