The French Arabe Class destroyer, (named after the different people of the french Empire.)consisted of Algerien, Annamite, Arabe, Bambara, Hova, Kabyle, Marocain, Sakalava, Senegalais, Somali, Tonkinois and Touareg. Buolt in Japan, due to France and Britain did not has the time to build more ships. these destroyers were built in approximately 5 months from beginning to completion. The Arabe class was modeled on the Japanese Kaba class. The destroyers were station in the Mediterranean and during the late 1920's they were based at Brest as part o fits North Squadron. They were split into two groups. with seven going to the 11th Squadron on Toranto-Hea escort duties and the other with the 3rd division at Mudros.. During the Riff War of 1924 some of the class were used off Morocco. None of the class saw action during the second world war as they has been scrapped between 1933 and 1936. Displacement: 685 tons. Speed: 29 Knots. range 2,000 nautical miles at 12 Knots, Compliment: 86 armament: One 120mm (4.7 inch) Gun Three 76mm, One 76mm AA and Four 450mm (17.7 inch) torpedo Tubes. |
