Since The Avengers was first broadcast in 1961 there have been numerous comic strip versions of the show. Some, such as those printed in the five annuals dedicated to both the original and the 'new' Avengers, are relatively well known. Others; the TV Comic strips, the UK Thorpe and Porter-published comic and the celebrated Diana strips are known but seldom seen. A further group including 'The Growing Up of Emma Peel' from June and Schoolfriend comic, and the Cathy Gale newspaper strip are surrounded by mystery and conjecture. This site is an attempt to pull together information on all these facets of The Avengers, to comment on them, and to put them into a wider context regarding the series and its merchandising as a whole. Any information which would help to expand the site will be gratefully received: one-ten@theavengers.tv

What's New?

August the 26th 2004

The New Avengers, as portrayed by John Bolton, reviewed by Brisco, here. I've uploaded one of the strips, for visitors to read, here. Also, I've fixed some broken links, thanks to the eagle eyes of Norman Boyd, who dropped in to have a look at the Frank Bellamy/Winged Avenger pages.

August the 8th 2004

Another Diana comic strip review by Brisco. This is of story two of the series. (Rest assured I've also acted on the hints dropped in the review and sent him some more strips to look at).

August the 3rd 2004

I called, they answered. The first of a number of reviews prepared by regulars at theavengers.tv international forum is now available to read. A review of the first Avengers strip from British comic Diana by Brisco!

June the 25th 2004

Tintin and The English Gentleman - Steed looks at Tintin. Also updated and augmented many of the TV Comic listings. I've also updated the list of strips I'm missing, please have a look and see if you can perhaps help, it's at the bottom of this page, and thanks to John Buss for his help. If anybody is interested in reviewing any Avengers strips, please get in touch and I'll get some to you.

April 6th 2004

Added new section - Comics in The Avengers to highlight those moments when comics intrude into the show itself.

February 15th 2004

English translation of the Argentinian satirical strip is now available thanks to Piers Johnson, whose wonderful Mrs Peel... We're Needed site is a boon for fans of Season Five. Also, thanks to Ian Beard, a regular at The Mausoleum Club, the TV Comic Tara King stories are gradually filling up. The wants list at the bottom of this page has been amended to reflect this, and more are on their way, so Cheers! Ian.

Wanted
I'm looking for scans or (preferably) photocopies of the Avengers strips from TV Comic that I don't currently have. I can trade copies of any of the Avengers strips I have on a one for one basis, and the copies will be used to make this site better. If you have any of the following, please get in touch. I'm also looking for any information that will add to this site, whether it be information on non-UK Avengers strips, detail on who wrote or drew particular issues, or your own reviews.

TV Comic: 739, 741, 742, 753, 757-760, 765, 767, 958, 988, 1000, 1004, 1006, 1016, 1017, 1019, 1020, 1024-1029, 1032, 1034, 1035, 1038, 1046, 1050, 1056-1061, 1066, 1068, 1069, 1074.
