The privacy of personal information is of utmost importance to Rio 2016 and our partners.

This Privacy Policy describes: the type of personal information we should collect from you; how we manage, file and share your information with other companies or governmental agents.

This Privacy Policy applies to all interactions between you and Rio 2016, such as our websites, social networks, e-mail, telephone or personal contact, in all ticket offices or fields of play, ceremonies and volunteer training centres.

We reserve the right to amend and update this policy from time to time. The latest version of the policy may be always accessed on any Rio 2016 website, and the date of the last update will always be informed in the beginning of the document. Any updates become valid on the date of their publication.

Your personal information may be collected whenever you:

• Register on one of Rio 2016 websites (Rio 2016 Games official website, Ticket Web Portal, Rio 2016 Official Store, Suppliers Portal, Rio 2016 Volunteer Portal, Rio 2016 Press Room, Rio 2016 Training Sites, etc.);
• Purchase products and/or services offered by Rio 2016 in any of our points of contact, either digital or physical, such as, for example, through the issuing of tickets at the ticket offices or in any of our  authorised resellers;
• Contact us by phone or e-mail, or interact with us through social medias or other points of contact;
• Participate in a market survey or contest conducted by Rio 2016;
• Use one of our functionalities on one of the websites or any other application created by us or our partners;
• Indicate to one of our partners that you wish to receive additional information from us

Your information may be stored by us or by our service providers, in electronic or physical format. Your electronic data must be filed in electronic format in fully certified data centres accredited according to international information and privacy security standards. We take all commercially viable precautions according to industry accepted standards in protecting and safeguarding your information.

We analyze our information collection, storage and processing practices, including physical security measures for protection against unauthorised access to the systems.

Access to personal information is only granted to employees, contractors and representatives of Rio 2016 who need to access this information for processing it for us; they are subject to strict confidentiality contractual obligations, and may be sued or dismissed if they fail to comply with such obligations.

Rio 2016 may retain your data for a certain period of time after the closing of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, but not after 31 December 2017. After the closing of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, we may transfer your personal data to the International Olympic Committee and Brazilian Olympic Committee and to the International Paralympic Committee and Brazilian Paralympic Committee, so you can receive information on future events, products or services related to the Olympic and Paralympic Movements, in which you may be interested. The privacy policies of these organisations are indicated on their respective websites.

We will only use your data to provide you with any necessary information regarding Rio 2016, for completion of your purchases of Rio 2016 tickets and/or products/services, and to inform you and facilitate your attendance to Rio 2016 events.

We will only contact you regarding offers or news that are not related to your purchases of Rio 2016 tickets and/or products/services or attendance and/or participation in an event or specific activity if you have opted for receiving such offers and news. We will only provide your information to selected partners if you have opted for receiving such communications, and these partners are responsible for the maintenance and use of such information according to their respective privacy policies.

Young people under 18 years of age are not authorised to purchase Rio 2016 tickets. In addition to such prohibition, we inform that we will discard any information on minors collected on the ticket web portal. Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to monitor the use of the Internet by minors.

Rio 2016 believes that maintaining and preserving the privacy of user data is an important value. This Privacy Policy, together with other policies, resolutions and actions of Rio 2016, aims to protect the security of user information collected and retained on our servers. However, Rio 2016 cannot guarantee that this information will be kept private. We acknowledge that despite our efforts to protect users’ private information, cybercriminals can develop methods to obtain this information and disclose it. For this reason, Rio 2016 cannot guarantee full protection against unauthorised access to the information provided.

We have adopted reasonable measures to keep the personal data in our possession accurate and to delete incorrect or unnecessary personal data. We suggest that you access your account registered on Rio 2016 websites on a periodical basis, to make sure your personal information is up to date.

This Privacy Policy will be governed, construed and enforced in accordance with the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil, regardless of conflicts between these laws and the laws of other states or countries, and the User's place of residence in Brazil will be the forum selected to settle any dispute arising from this instrument. The User expressly consents to the jurisdiction of that court, and abdicates to any other court, however privileged it is or will be.
