Website Accessibility

Website Accessibility Policy

The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games advocates "Unity in Diversity" as one of its core concepts for the Tokyo 2020 Games vision. Accordingly, this website aims to provide information to everyone regardless of race, skin colour, gender, sexual orientation, language, religion, political belief or physical or intellectual impairment. We are making the utmost efforts to enhance the accessibility of this website in accordance with the "2010 Japan Industrial Standards (JIS) X 8341-3 Guidelines for older persons and persons with disabilities – Information and communications equipment, software and services – Part 3: Web content."

Scope of compliance

Tokyo 2020 Games Official Website (this website): https://tokyo2020.jp/
Tokyo 2020 Games Official Website (mobile page of this website): https://m.tokyo2020.jp/
* The press page (https://media.tokyo2020.jp/) is not covered.

Targeted compliance level

We aim to conform to the AA class of the 2010 version of the JIS X 8341-3.

* Towards achieving the AA class of the 2010 version of the JIS 8341-3
The JIS criteria consist of three separate classes: A, AA and AAA. The AA class indicates that all criteria of A and AA classes have been met. These specifications can be found in the following document:

Info-communication Access Council and the Web Accessibility Infrastructure Committee.
"JIS X 8341-3:2010 Compliance Level Indication Guidelines for Web Content, Edition 1 – August 20, 2010" (Japanese only)(Open in a new window)

Non-conforming items and compliance completion date

Widgets presented from external services (SNS, etc.) are regarded as exception services. This includes the social buttons on each page, and "Vox populi (the voice of the people)" on the Tokyo 2020 Games Emblem Page.
Please be aware that changes are ongoing. Due to the difficulty of updating a variety of different file formats (e.g. PDF, word processed documents, spreadsheets, etc.) from a range of content developers before the formulation of the accessibility policy, the target date for completion is the end of March 2017.
