Poet Laureate, Juan Felipe Herrera
Renewed by Acting Librarian of Congress David S. Mao to serve a second term as the 21st Poet Laureate at his Wednesday, April 13th closing lecture, Herrera took up his duties on Tuesday, September 15th—the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month—with a reading of his work at the Library’s Coolidge Auditorium. Herrera launched his Poet Laureate Project—La Casa de Colores—on September 15, 2015 (see details below).

La Casa de Colores
La Casa de Colores, or “the House of Colors,” is a house for all voices and this year's project of Poet Laureate, Juan Felipe Herrera. La Casa de Colores includes two features: La Familia, an opportunity for you to contribute to an epic poem, with new themes announced each month, and El Jardín, monthly updates of our Laureate’s experiences with the wealth of materials at the Library of Congress.
