Thomas de Win has a member of the Supervisory Board of Bayer AG since April 2002 and Vice Chairman since March 2006.
Thomas de Win was born in Leverkusen in 1958. He joined Bayer AG in 1974 and trained as a commercial assistant. After that he worked in administration at Bayer AG. In addition, he performed a range of functions as a representative of young employees and trainees at Bayer until 1984.
Following a period of social service, Thomas de Win became a member of Bayer’s Works Council in 1984 and has been a full-time Works Council member since 1989. In 1998 he was elected Deputy Chairman of the Works Council. Since then he has also been a member of the Central Works Council and Group Works Council. From 1999 until November 2005 he served as Deputy Chairman of Bayer’s Central Works Council.
In 2001 he was elected to the Executive Committee of the German Mining, Chemical and Energy Industrial Union (IG BCE).
In 2002 he became a member of the Bayer AG Supervisory Board as well as Chairman of the Works Council at the Leverkusen site, a position he held until spring 2010. From 2005, Thomas de Win was Chairman of the Central Works Council of Bayer and from 2010 also Chairman of the Group Works Council. In 2015, he resigned from both positions on health grounds.
