Outstanding commitment by employees

Being a role model pays off!

150 years of Bayer – 150 role models: As part of its 150th anniversary celebrations, Bayer set out to find 150 employees and retirees involved in voluntary projects to improve life for the communities around its global sites.

“A prominent feature of Bayer's 150-year success story is also the fact that both the company and its employees embodied social responsibility from the very beginning. The commitment to important social issues and social relationships in the community makes up a good part of our corporate culture. As part of our anniversary celebrations, we therefore specifically want to showcase the voluntary work performed by our colleagues," explains project manager Dirk Frenzel from Bayer's Corporate Communications department.

In response to the "Being a role model pays off" initiative, the Bayer Cares Foundation received applications from 620 employees and retirees from 62 countries for support for voluntary projects they are involved in. The Foundation awarded over €600,000 to the 150 voluntary projects from 51 countries selected by the jury.

Innovative ideas and approaches

Bayer employees volunteer in many areas of life. For example, they provide emergency relief, support health care and healthy nutrition, and foster educational and leisure opportunities for children. Particularly deserving of support are social projects that find new solutions using innovative ideas and approaches, serve as models and have a sustainable effect. Details of the voluntary projects supported by Bayer employees in our anniversary year can be found on our interactive map.
