After launching Radio10 in February 2004, which was the first private radio station in Rwanda, the Tele10 Group owned by Eugène Nyagahene has unveiled TV10, the first private TV station. It is expected to be officially launched mid-March.
According to a statement from the media company, the editorial line of TV10 will focus on four pillars: Business, Entertainment/Culture, Sports and News. In terms of programming, an important effort will be made to promote and broadcast local content which will constitute about 60 to 70% of the total programming time.
Regarding international content, TV10 has concluded partnerships with BBC, CFI, CNN, Deutche Welle and many more reputed content providers.
TV10 will broadcast programs in the three official languages of Rwanda, especially in its news bulletins.
Contrary to the alternatives to the public TV Rwanda which were available so far - Pay-TV such as DSTV and Star Times - TV10 will be free. To access it, viewers will either have to possess a digital TV or acquire a decoder, which the company promises will cost less than Frw 30,000.
