Angola: Country's Radio Service Has Always Promoted Angola - Secretary of State

Luanda — The secretary of State for Mass Media, Manuel da Conceição, last Thursday in Luanda said radio broadcast is a service of high value in promoting the various events taking place in Angola and abroad.

The secretary of State, who was delivering a speech at the opening of the Second Congress on Radio Broadcast, promoted by the Independente University, stressed that considering the characteristics of the Angolan society, radio broadcast still plays a great in the socialisation process.

Manuel da Conceição stressed that tackling matters relating to radio broadcast is an exercise to be applauded and encourage.

He went on saying that evidences regarding the importance of radio broadcast is summorized in its three main functions, namely to inform, educate and provide recreation, thus reflecting the social dimension of radio.

In this context, he appealed to all the participants in the gathering to use their capacities and skills in the discussion of the themes in the congress, doing it with a high sense of academic and scientific dialogue, aimed at reaching conclusions that dignify the country's radio broadcast service.

"We hope that the event may become a reference in this higher education institution, whose contribution has been noticed through the students that have been placed in the employment market, representing a social benefit for the various sectors of our country", Manuel da Conceição emphasised.

He also commended the partnership between the Mass Media Ministry and the Independente University of Angola, adding that the activity of both institutions converge.
