AT least 19 aspirants collected nomination forms in the opening day of the race to the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) leadership, ahead of the February 24 general election.
TFF Information Officer, Boniface Wambura said out of the 19 who collected forms , two are eying for the Vice-President post, while the remaining aspirants are vying for the Executive Committee membership posts, representing different zones.
Those who are vying for the Vice-President post are incumbent Second Vice-President Ramadhan Nassib and the Chairman of the Mainland Premier League Committee Wallace Karia. The two are also members of the outgoing TFF Executive Committee.
Wambura named aspirants who collected nomination forms for the Executive Committee posts as Shaffih Dauda, Athuman Kambi, Hussein Mwamba, Stewart Masima, Yusuph Kitumbo, Mugisha Galibona and Vedastus Lufano.
Others are Twahili Njoki, Charles Mugondo, Elley Mbise, Farid Nahdi, Ayubu Nyaulingo, Nazarius Kilungeja, Epaphra Swai, Khalid Abdallah, James Mhagama and Selemani Bandiho.
Meanwhile, Wambura said the TFF Election Committee is issuing nomination forms for the forthcoming TFF and Tanzania Premier League Board (TPL Board) online.
"The forms are available on the TFF website (www.tff.or.tz) and aspiring candidates could fill them online and pay for the application form to the TFF account number 01J1019956700 CRDB, Holland House.
Application forms cost 500,000/- for president, 300,000/- (vice-president) and 200,000/- (executive committee members). The deadline for returning the forms is January 18. Posts to be contested are those of President, Vice-President and 13 members of the Executive Committee.
According to the TFF Election Committee Chairman Deogratius Lyato, applicants for president and vice-president posts should be Tanzanians, holder of a bachelor's degree and not aged less than 25 years and neither should they be over 75 years of age.
