Angola: Seventy Five People Killed in Road Accidents in Caala

Caála — At least 75 people were killed and 134 seriously injured as a result of 134 road accidents in 2012 in Caala city, central Huambo province.

The information was released Monday by the commander of the National Police, Evaristo Catombela, during the presentation of the assessment of the work done by the organisation in 2012.

The police officer blamed the accidents on overspeed, poor precaution, irregular overtaking, bad technical condition of the vehicles, drunken driving and other irregularities.

The list involves run-overs, veer-offs, collisions and other accidents that caused damage estimated at Akz 475,593 (about Usd 4,700).
