The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has said that only 14 families of the victims of the Dana Air crash out of the 146 families have received full insurance compensation of $100,000, six months after the crash. 85 families have so far received the initial $30,000.
The Director-General, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Dr. Harold Demuren disclosed this yesterday in Lagos. He said for the families that are yet to access full payment, they must submit letters of administration (LOA) for the reinsurance company to process their claims.
Dana Air MD-83, flight J9 992 crashed on June 3, 2012 around Iju-Ishaga, Agege, Lagos killing all 153 persons on board and some 10 others on ground and destroyed properties worth millions of naira. Dr. Demuren was represented by the Director, Aeromedical, NCAA, Dr. Theresa Bassey who gave details about the payment of compensation to the relatives of the crash victims.
