Festival da Canção 2012 will be held on the evening of March 10th in Lisbon and will be aired live on RTP. The Portuguese representative in Eurovision 2012 will be decided via a 50/50 televoting and jury deliberation.
Portugal debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1964 and is yet to win the Eurovision Song Contest. Portugal's best placing at Europe's favourite television show was in 1996 when Lucia Móniz placed 6th with the song O meu coração não tem cor.

Why do i get the feeling that nothing new will come out of this national final and that AT BEST they'll end 18th in the final, AS USUAL?
I hope that Carlos Costa will represent this year Portugal on the ESC. He has a beautiful voice, and a good performance on stage. Good luck Carlos!
Rui Andrade is cute. He should have represented Portugal last year.
I will be definitely watching FdC 12 on March 10th.It helps the fact,M.F is earlier and FdC later on.A thrilling night this will be. :)
Babic/Coelho sounds promising along with Filipa. Hoping for a great song from the wonderful ESC-country of Portugal :)
I am glad for Andrej and Carlos, they are a good team! Hope they have some chances this year. Portugal needs a good entry, after last years horror!
Well, on paper Filipa Sousa seems the most promising, hope it lives up to all those names involved.

One more thing, whoever decides to watch FdC, should be warned that the voting part will go on for ages as each distrito (18 on the continent + Madeira and Azores) will be voting live. Open a bottle of red wine and enjoy!
Indeed it wil be, mermaid. I'll be watching FdC, but I won't miss the news coming from the other NFs. FdC 12 will be held in RTP's studio 1 and it'll be cozy affair, I guess. Boa sorte!
