There were almost 4,200 organic farms in Finland, which accounted for around ten percent of all farms in the country. Furthermore, the average size of organic farms has risen, reaching nearly 75 hectares per farm as of 2023. The most cultivated organic crop in terms of production volume is oat, with roughly 86.6 million kilograms in 2023. Regarding meat production, beef cattle and pigs are the most raised livestock in Finland. In 2023, almost 4.36 million kilograms of organic meat was produced in the country, decreasing from the previous year. Beef accounts for the majority of organic meat production, with production volume of 3.55 million kilograms per year. Compared to other types of organic meat, lamb was produced at a lower volume of 0.22 million kilograms. However, it accounted for nearly 19.6 percent of all lamb production in the country.Even though variable weather conditions negatively impacted the yields of organic grains and other organic products and the general rise in consumer prices, the consumers interest in organic products has remained during 2023.
