The global digital video advertising market is seeing major year-on-year growth, with revenues from both desktop and mobile video advertising increasing by several billion U.S. dollars. Market forecasts suggest that revenues for desktop advertising will level off, and perhaps reduce by a small degree by 2026, but mobile advertising will continue to grow at an exponential rate, reaching around 230 billion U.S. dollars in 2026.
The APAC market
In the Asia-Pacific region, China is by a notable margin the largest video advertising market, with revenue far surpassing other countries in the region. Despite this, other markets in the region are seeing major growth. For example, advertising spending, particularly for smartphone-based advertising, has seen significant investment in Japan, a trend that is predicted to continue in the immediate future.Video advertising spending on cinema and television in Australia
Advertisers across a wide range of industries are keen to make significant investments in video advertising. Whilst spending on cinema advertising dipped across most industries in 2020, a result of the global coronavirus pandemic and contact restrictions, almost all industries invested far, far more in the following year. For the retail industry, ad spending for cinema advertising doubled in 2021. However, when it came to television advertising spending by the retail industry, there was a slight drop in spending in the same year. It was a similar story across the automotive and energy sectors, with one exception; the energy sector saw far greater growth in television ad spending in 2021.
