Straight whiskey consumption in the United States from 1980 to 2025
By 2025, consumption of straight whiskey is expected to reach about 34.9 million 9-liter cases, a more than one hundred percent increase over the consumption volume from the late 1990s and early 2000s. Straight whiskey is whiskey created by distilling fermented cereal grain mash, creating a liquor not exceeding 80 percent alcohol by volume (ABV) and aged for a minimum of two years. Once bottled, the ABV must be 62.5 percent or lower.
