The number of computed tomography (CT) scan examinations conducted in Iceland declined to 78,941 scans in 2020. Nevertheless, the last two years recorded a significantly higher number of CT scans than the preceding years. CT or CAT scanner is an x-ray machine which combines many x-ray images with the aid of a computer to generate cross-sectional views and, if needed, three-dimensional images of the internal organs and structures of the body.
