As of November 2023, the United Kingdom had the most Subway restaurants in Europe, reaching 2,153 locations. It was followed by Germany, albeit with significantly fewer restaurants. Worldwide, there were over 36 thousand Subway restaurants in 2023.

How successful is Subway?

Subway is regarded as one the most successful quick service franchises worldwide. Behind a few other franchises such as McDonalds, Starbucks and KFC, Subway ranked as the sixth most valuable fast food brand globally in 2023. The chain focuses on selling submarine sandwiches (or “subs”) in a quick service format, where customers can choose additional toppings as it is made in front of them.

Is fast food dying?
