Number of hotel rooms in India FY 2001-2023
The number of hotel rooms in India stood at over 165 thousand in financial year 2023. This was expected to increase to nearly 200 thousand by financial year 2027. Bengaluru, New Delhi, and Mumbai made up the leading cities in this category. The growth of room supply was estimated to increase across the country, specifically in tier two and three cities, along a range of socio-economic segments.

Despite the dip in tourists as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the industry was expected to recover and continue on a growth path from 2022.
