The total online video advertising spending in Japan was estimated at 625.3 billion Japanese yen in 2023. A breakdown by type shows that in-stream ads and in-feed ads were the leading types of online video ads during that year, while a breakdown by device shows that smartphones accounted for a larger part than connected TVs and PCs. It was projected that the total video ad spending would increase to more than 1.02 trillion yen by 2027.
