Wholesale sales of baseball/softball sports equipment in the U.S. 2007-2023

Wholesale sales of baseball bats in the United States came to a total of 320.7 million U.S. dollars in 2023, making it the largest product category on the baseball/softball sports equipment market. Gloves and mitts made up the second-largest product segment, with wholesale sales of roughly 200 million U.S. dollars. 

Baseball interest in the United States

Baseball is one of the most popular sports to play and watch in the United States. In 2021, about seven in ten American men considered themselves fans of the sport. Specifically, about 40 percent considered themselves casual fans, while just under 30 percent of Americans stated they were avid fans of the sport. While there were also many women interested in baseball, far more avid fans were male that year.

Sports equipment falls under the broader category of sporting goods. In terms of wholesale sales, athletic wear was the most lucrative type of sports product on the U.S. market, generating approximately 45 billion U.S. dollars of wholesale sales in 2022. Wholesale sales of sports equipment came to a total of approximately 32 billion U.S. dollars that year.
